everything to look forward to at walt disney world resort in 2019 (so far!)

new year, new attractions, still on the same tinkerkait grind.

Well hello and welcome to 2019!  Starting a brand new year is such an exciting time, and I couldn't be any more excited for 2019 to unfold!  I know 2018 brought so much change and happiness into my life, and I can't wait to see what 2019 has in store for all of us!  The new year always reminds me of my favorite ride in Epcot: Spaceship Earth.  New Year's Day universally brings together two feelings: the reflection of our past accomplishments, and the hopefulness of what we can accomplish in the future.  In the iconic words of Dame Judy Dench: "Here's to the next 30,000 years on Spaceship Earth.  While no one knows for sure what we'll see or do, I do know it will be quite an adventure-- an adventure that we'll take and make together."

No one may know for sure what we'll see or do, but we do know that Disney has announced some pretty exciting projects for Walt Disney World Resort this year!

In 2018, I was lucky enough to celebrate Mickey's 90th birthday with him on November 18!  This year, the party doesn't stop with Mickey and Minnie's Surprise Celebration, which kicks off at the Magic Kingdom on Jan. 18.  The birthday festivities will include all new merchandise, food, and entertainment.  Are you missing the Move it!  Shake it!  Dance and Play it! Street Party parade already?  Lament no more-- Mickey, Minnie, and all of their friends will be debuting the Move it!  Shake it!  MousekeDance it! Street Party on this day, which is sure to include all of your favorite MiSiDaPi fun with a special birthday party twist.  Mickey and Minnie will also be meeting guests in their birthday outfits at the Town Square Theatre.  While there's no confirmation on how long these special festivities will be going on, I can only cross my fingers and pray that my two favorite mice will still be meeting when I get there in August.  Minnie's birthday outfit is to die for, I need to get a photo with her and all of her pom-pom glory!

Back in July, Hollywood Studios welcomed a well-needed, well-deserved, well-executed new section of the park: Toy Story Land!  Hollywood Studios will continue to prosper throughout 2019 as the park celebrates it's 30th anniversary.  Starting Jan. 18, fans of The Incredibles can visit Municiburg city block in front of Toy Story Land, where they can dance along with Mr. Incredible, Frozone, and Mrs. Incredible at the Incredible party.  Furthermore-- if you're like me, and worship Edna Mode, you'll be pleased to learn that 2018 plans for an Edna Mode meet and greet are finally materializing!  Mode will have a designated meet area in Municiburg where she'll serve looks and sign books.

Following the trend of Pixar prosperity in Hollywood Studios this year, fans of Monsters Inc. will once again be able to meet Mike & Sulley inside Walt Disney Presents.  I could not be more thrilled to hear Mike & Sulley are returning to DHS!  The last time I met them was 2015, at their old M&G location in DHS.  I loved their old spot, and I hope that their new one will be just as much fun!  This spring, Lightning McQueen will host an all new show: Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy.  Fans of Cars will also be able to meet McQueen and Cruz Ramirez.

The 30th anniversary celebration at Hollywood Studios continues with an all new nighttime experience.  On May 1, park guests are invited to take a journey through Disney animation with the debut of Wonderful World of Animation.  The new cinematic projection show will include state-of-the-art technology and all of our favorite classic Disney animated movies.  Anything that pays tribute to Disney animation makes me cry, so I'll be sure to bring the tissues to this one.

In one final 30th celebration for Hollywood Studios, Fall 2019 will bring one of the most anticipated lands to the park.  This fall, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will open to Jedi of all ages.  Those who hold the force are invited to visit Planet Batuu, where you'll be immersed in the Star Wars story as you find yourself at the village of Black Spire Outpost.  Here, two brand new attractions are waiting for you: Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.  Both of these attractions will utilize groundbreaking technology to produce thrilling rides fans of Star Wars are guaranteed to love.  Merchant stalls will sell anything a Star Wars fan might need on their way back to earth, and Oga's Cantina is set to open as a dining option with Galaxy's Edge, but it is unsure at the moment whether the Cantina will be QS or FS.  I am so excited to see Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge open this year!  It's been under construction for so long, and while it feels like we've been waiting a millennium to see it open, I promise that Fall 2019 is not so far, far away!

Rounding out the brand-new park offerings this year, Epcot will be debuting an all-new Beauty and the Beast Sing-a-Long experience.  Don Hahn, producer of both the animated and live-action Beauty and the Beast films, has created this new offering, which will allow guests to sing their favorite songs with Belle.  Not a lot of information has been released about this experience yet, but if I had to guess, I would say it sounds like the sing-a-long will probably take place at the American Gardens Theatre during the ever-dwindling "off seasons" between Festivals.

As a DVC member, I'm excited to hear that Disney's Riviera Resort will open this year alongside all of these great attractions.  The resort is inspired by Walt Disney's travels to the European Mediterranean coastline, and will include access to Disney's Skyliner-- which is also set to open this year!  The Skyliner gondola system will connect Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot parks to several resorts, including their newest DVC resort.  Disney's Riviera Resort will be the 15th DVC property.

I love that we're getting a Mediterranean themed resort!  Following the success of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando Resort, it's easy to see why Disney has opted for a more upscale resort hotel offering.  This resort sounds like it's going to be a great option for fans of Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

This is all I have for you right now, but I cannot wait to see what comes out of all these great new offerings!  2019 is going to be such an exiting year for the Disney Parks, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be returning this August!  Do you have a brand new Park experience that you're looking forward to this year?  Let me know in the comments below and I'll feature you next week.
